The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Initially I wanted to write about something else today, but then I saw this wonderful film last night and I've just got to tell you about it now.
Some of you might have seen The Perks of Being a Wallflower already or read the book, but if you haven't, read what I've got to say about it.

The film is a tale ofsome teenagers and their struggles when growing up. The story is told by Charly (Logan Lerman), who's struggeling a lot with his start at a new school. He's gone through a lot already in his life and is very shy and introvert due to that. Therefore it's not easy for him to find new friends. But eventually, he connects with a group of other students, who all have problems fitting in. But amongst themselves they feel comfortable and have fun together. However nnot everything works out well and Charly keeps getting haunted by his dark memories.
I don't want to give too much away, but it's safe to say, that Charly has some secrets you are to find out about during the film. And also the other characters like Sam (Emma Watson) and Patrick (Ezra Miller) don't have an easy life. They're the perfect group of misfits, who still find a way to enjoy their lifes.

Now this is why I loved watching this film: It's not one of those typical teenie films. It's not about being cool or how to become popular. And it's not about how a perfect life should look like. Instead it is about how hard life can be and how you can make it even though there are these obstacles that keep getting put in your way. And it's about how your life doesn't have to be perfect, you just have to try to make the best out of it.

I may be a bit too old to relate to the protagonists, but I am so sure, that there are a lot of teenagers out there who have problems and are struggeling a lot with their life, because they think they don't fit in. And thinking about it, I still have that problem sometimes. Not in that highschool environment of course, but in life in general.

I reckon there's always people, who think you're weird, doing the wrong things or just don't like you in general. And this film shows, that you shouldn't hide because of your imperfections, don't always care about the others. Care about yourself. There will always be people out there, who understand you, who will be your friends no matter what.

You don't have to be cool or popular, just be yourself!
